Remember when you bought that new pair of pants and they fit so perfectly. But then, with a little bit of time and a little bit of weight gain, those nice fitting pants don’t fit so well anymore.
But here’s the thing…that belly fat can be very bad for you!
That extra belly fat can continue to increase. Belly fat is really visceral fat, which is fat around your major organs. So, the extra fat you put on in the midsection accumulates around the liver, the pancrease, the intestines, etc.
The fact that this fat is in the abdominal area makes it a particular type of fat with its own particular traits. This abdominal (visceral) fat produces inflammation response that effects a variety of tissues, including the tissues of the cardiovascular system.
Inflammation can effect the vascular system by damaging the vessel walls leading to increasing blood pressure and buildup on the vessel walls. Obviously this puts a person at risk for heart attack or stroke.
It is time to watch the waistline and if the pants are getting too tight…get rid of the belly (it’s not the pants fault).
